The FZR750R OW01 was a machine that was first manufactured in 1989. It's sole purpose was to win races in the World
Superbike championship series as well as the American Superbike (AMA) and British Superbike (BSB) championships. During those years, and
up until 2003, the Superbike rules specified a 750cc displacement limit for 4-cylinder machines. Since Yamaha no longer mass-produced a
road-going 750cc sportbike for sale to the general public (1988 being the last year), 1000 units were manufactured in order
to comply with homologation rules set forth by the major racing organizations.
